English 19th Century Victorian Split Leg Staffordshire Dog with White Coat
About the Item
An English Victorian period slit leg Staffordshire dog from the 19th century with textured coat and gilded collar. Created in England during the reign of Queen Victoria, this Staffordshire dog features a white-coated dog with textured areas, accented with black touches. Wearing a gilt collar, the dog showcases split legs. Queen Victoria's first dog Dash was likely the source of inspiration for Staffordshire figures in the 19th century. While Staffordshire figures were typically placed on a mantelpiece with less attention placed on their back, our piece is fully decorated all around. With its soft color and nice proportions, this 19th century Victorian split leg Staffordshire dog will make for a great decorative addition to any home.
