"Femme Au Pieuvre" French Art Nouveau Glazed Ceramic Inkwell by Rupert Carabin
About the Item
A French Art Nouveau "Femme-Pieuvre," brown glazed ceramic inkwell by Rupert Carabin, wherein a woman ecstatically rips open the head of an octopus, spilling its ink. A beautiful play on an ancient means of sourcing ink, this sculpture's tranquility and solidity give it the aura of an ancient carving, circa 1897.
