Paul Duboy, Bisque Statue Young Girl in a Ball Gown
About the Item
This porcelain bisque statue depicts a young woman in a ball gown, holding a mask and a fan, in 18th century taste. She is wearing an elegant dress à la française, with a richly decorated stomach piece, a large skirt and a coat dress tied at the waist. The sleeves are ornamented with delicate lace ruffles. A collar complete this charming outfit. The figurine rests on a circular base decorated with palmettes and flutes. Signed on the base: PAUL DUBOY. Green manufactory mark underneath. The details of the bodice, lace sleeves and hair are beautifully carved.

Paul Duboy (1830-1887) was a French sculptor active in the second half of the 19th century. He entered the École des beaux-arts in 1849 and studied with Geckter and C. Elshoecht. He exhibited at the Salon from 1853 to 1882 several medallions in plaster and bronze.
