"Statuesque Female Nude, " Superb Art Deco Sculpture by Mankowski
About the Item
Imbued with dignity, gravity and Classic beauty, this rare terra cotta sculpture of a standing female nude was sculpted by Bruno Mankowski, a German American artist known for his murals and medallic art. Mankowski exhibited widely in the 1930s and 1940s, sculpted a WPA bas relief panel for the Post Office in Chesterfield, South Carolina, and sculpted figures for a pediment at the US Capitol building. This sculpture was auctioned by Christie's several years ago.
