18th Century Italian Fragment Base with Mica in Matrix and Silver Leaf Shells
About the Item
Sculptural 18th century Italian base decorated with mica in matrix, and silver leaf shells on an antique metal base decorated with church vestment braid. The 18th century fragment base and vestment braid originally came from a historical Italian church in Italy.
The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the piece and the period shows that the Italian fragment is originally 18th century.
The Italian church base artifact, mica in matrix, silver leaf shells, and antique metal base are put together in a sculptural form - creating a piece that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create a piece entirely original, evolving in its own right.
