About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive 18 carat yellow gold, 0.43 carat garnet, 0.08 carat ruby, green coloured hardstone and glass scent bottle; an addition to our diverse ornamental collection
This exceptional 18 carat yellow gold antique scent bottle has a has a plain flask shaped form.
This antique opalesque glass scent bottle is fitted with a fine and impressive yellow gold cylindrical collar and domed hinged cover, which opens to reveal the original push fit glass stopper.
The rim of the collar, cover and mounted foot are embellished with impressive leaf designs.
The surface of the cover is ornamented with impressive scrolling leaf decoration on a matte background, incorporating quatrefoil shaped floral motifs comprised of four collet set green-coloured hardstones.
Each quatrefoil shaped design is embellished with a collet set cabochon cut ruby to the centre, totalling 0.08ct.
The domed upper portion of the cover is further ornamented with an impressive scrolling leaf bordered floral design, comprised of five collet set green hardstone petals with an impressive 0.43ct round faceted cut garnet to the centre, collet set in relief.
Condition
This antique gold scent bottle with gemstones is an excellent gauge of gold, excellent quality and in excellent condition. The garnet and rubies display fine colour and brilliance. There are no hallmarks as to be expected with such a piece; the date can be determined by the composition and decoration.

This exceptional antique George V scent bottle container has a cylindrical form. The surface of the body is embellished with exceptional pale blue guilloche enamel accented with violet floral garlands above a transitional band of purple enamel incorporating minute floral motifs. The cover is ornamented with further enamel decoration with violet floral garlands suspended from a scrolling trellis style border to the upper portion. The upper plateau of the cover is encircled with further enamel ornamentation reflecting the design to the lower portion of the body. The cover opens to reveal the original three glass perfume bottles and stoppers. Each bottle is fitted with a silver mount ornamented with a band of pale blue enamel. These antique perfume bottles are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior bearing the retailer's mark 'Diamond Merchants, Searle & Co Ltd, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, 79 Lombard St, London'. The cover of the box secures with a decorative trefoil hinged catch. The shaped glass body of each antique perfume bottles is embellished with stepped ornamentation to the upper portion. The interior of the sterling silver chamber, cover and mounts to the bottles retain the original gilding. Condition These antique scent bottles are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The glass perfume bottles are in perfect condition. The original gilding shows signs of wear in keeping with age. There is a slight surface abrasion to the enamel at the top rim of the container. The interior of the original box is in excellent condition, in keeping with age; the exterior surface is in excellent presentation condition. Full import hallmarks struck to the underside of the sterling silver container and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks show signs of wear in keeping with age but remain legible.
