Chinese Blue and White Four Flowers Jar

Loosely brushed with cobalt blue pigments, this round, blue-and-white storage jar is underglazed with lush garden scenery featuring the flowering plants of the four seasons. Tree peonies for spring adorn the left side, while round chrysanthemum flowers adorn the right. Lotus buds and leaves emerge from murky waters at the center, a symbol of summer, while a plum tree dotted with blossoms branches overhead, a symbol of winter. A celebration of nature and the seasons, this motif of the four flowers conveys a blessing of wealth and honor year round.
