1930s Art Deco Ceramic Vase by Faïenceries de Thulin of Belgium
About the Item
A rare piece. Absolutely everything about this antique Belgian Art Deco vase is exquisite: the shape, the black gazing, the abstract decor, the size and the condition.
Made in Belgium by Faïenceries de Thulin between 1920 and 1949, this is the eye catching model number 154 (see embossed mark at the bottom). The vase has a decor known as "Tulips": a wonderful, deep grey metallic glaze with an abstract pattern in white, green and soft yellow on each side as well as on the handles. Especially on the handles, the decor really ressembles real jade stone (see photos). A rare color combination for this lovely model.
The vase is in very good vintage condition. No cracks, no chips, hardly any scratches on the surface. There are a few very small irregularities in the glaze, originating from the glazing process itself.
