Giardino I Hand Blown Glass Vase by Sophie Lou Jacobsen
About the Item
Hand blown soda lime glass with sculpted floral embellishments in alabaster white. Part of our Giardino series, made in New York City.
Giardino Segreto’ or the ‘Secret Garden’ is a series of limited edition objects that explore the poetic tension of fragile yet enduring beauty.
I was inspired to delve into the world of sculpting glass and developing these floral motifs while wandering around the Medieval Art Museum in Paris. Ornament and flowers all around, I realized that this ephemeral beauty has transfixed us humans forever, and we’ve always tried to find ways of capturing it. During the renaissance, the Giardino Segretos were secret enclosures within a garden. A place to have an individual, personal relationship with the garden and its flowers. This is what I have tried to recreate with this collection. - Sophie Lou Jacobsen
