Pair of Decorative Bronze Ewers in the Renaissance Style
About the Item
Pair of decorative ewers in bronze with two patinas in the Renaissance taste. The handles are in the form of busts of nude women wearing diadems emerging from acanthus leaves and ending with a lion's head. The body is decorated with masks, cartouche, cut leather patterns and flowery garlands. The neck is decorated with friezes of oves, acanthus and gadroons. The pedestal has gadroons and acanthus leaves. The ensemble rests on a square base.
This work of the end of the XIXth century is close to the works of Victor Paillard (1805-1886).
