About the Item
This a Georgian, early 19th century Deep Dish or Pie / Serving Dish made by Mason's Ironstone in the small vase, flowers and rock gilded chinoiserie pattern, dating to circa 1815.
This Pie dish is well potted as a deep open Serving dish or Bowl.
It is beautifully hand decorated with one of Mason's bold chinoiserie patterns called "Small Vase, Flowers and Rock" pattern, with much hand enamelling in typical colourful enamels, possibly over a blue printed outline, as illustrated on Page 110 of A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns circa 1813-1848. The pattern also has hand gilded detail.
The piece carries the earliest impressed recorded Mason's round mark on one of its sides stating "Patent Ironstone China" in a circle, dating this piece to circa 1815.
Overall a very early Mason's ironstone, well decorated Serving Dish or Bowl.
