About the Item
This is a very decorative Burleigh Ware pottery jug or pitcher made by Burgess and Leigh of Burslem, Staffordshire Potteries, England during the Art Deco period, circa 1930's.
The jug has an interesting shape with a very interesting Parrot loop handle, moulded leaves and butterflies on the body. The piece is well hand-painted in typical Art Deco bright colors of yellow, orange, green, blue and black enamels, all in various shades.
The jug is marked to the base with the Burleigh Ware printed mark for the period, together with a 4862 hand-painted in black.
