Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Celadon glazed Large Bowl, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1957
About the Item
Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Large Bowl with celadon haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg, Sweden 1957 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "Ä"
The entire piece is covered with a pale celadon glaze, over which a double layer of light brown glaze has been applied, mixing and flowing with each other. The celadon glaze flows beautifully on the outside, while the brown and celadon glazes are mixed on the underside.
The shape is that of a large flat bowl with a thick rim, which has been twisted by hand to form an oval shape. It is a shallow bowl, but when viewed from the side, the rim is undulated.
It is a beautiful piece when placed as a table centerpiece with some small object in it.
The price is lower than the original because there are some cracks in the glaze, which are common to large pieces of this type, caused by the accumulation of glaze on the bottom of the bowl when it is cooled down from the firing.
In good condition.
The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
