Early 20th century Arts & Crafts Majolica art pottery rare note/match holder, made by the Swiss factory Thun / Thoune, circa 1910s. This note/match holder, entirely handcrafted and hand-painted, is decorated with a modern Eastern accent design, on a very dark brown background with bright slipware in yellow, white, green, brick orange, and black enhanced with a sgraffiato technique, depicting owls in the midst of exotic parrot feathers. Highly collectible, signed.

Thoune
Tom Thoune is a North Carolina multimedia artist, sculptor and painter. His work spans over 30 years and includes large and small mosaic installations, commissioned paintings and portraits, public art and teaching. Originally from a beach community in southern California, Thoune moved to Charlotte in his early 20s.
