Victorian Silver Shell Spoon Warmers
About the Item
19th century Victorian silver plate spoon warmers in the shape of nautilus shells resting on a bed of sea rocks ending with an ornate shell design. Originally the lids opened up to dip the spoons into hot water with the exception of one that is a fixed lid.
They vary from ornate ferns to clovers or graphic lines that conform to the shape of the warmer. Some warmers are signed or have reg numbers and are attributed to Sheffield or Mappin and Webb. Each varies slightly in size. Today, they make fabulous vases or centerpieces.
