"Coffee Pot and Sugar Bowl, " Art Deco Pieces by Atelier Borgila, Sterling Silver
About the Item
Exquisitely designed and executed, this Art Deco coffee pot and sugar bowl form an elegant pairing, and were made by Erik Fleming's Atelier Borgila in Sweden in 1953. Each piece is surmounted by a hinged lid with repeated setbacks, topped by a flower-and-leaf motif, all hammered and finished by some of the finest silversmiths in Scandinavia. Fleming's works in silver are world-renowned, and can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cooper-Hewitt in New York, among many other museums. The sugar bowl's interior features a gold wash, and the coffee pot has a handle in ebony. Both pieces are fully marked on the bottom. The coffee pot is 5.75 inches high and the sugar is 3 inches high.
