Victorian Sterling Tureen with Platter c1850
About the Item
Date marked 1850, Sterling, by James Dixon & Son, Sheffield England. This tureen and underplate is a superb example of early Victorian British sterling. Beautifully designed, it features an acorn finial, heavily beaded edges, gadrooned edging, fabulous rolled handles, and a gorgeous coat of arms. Heavy and well-made, it is both decorative and perfect for service. Excellent condition.
Remarks: "British Sterling set the world standard in quality, weight and style. Take that rest of the world!!"
