Unique Folk Art Copper Viking Ship Table Piece with Shields and Boxes on Deck
About the Item
High quality Viking Folk Art.
This all handcrafted, realistic and detailed Viking ship was undoubtedly designed and crafted by a Scandinavian artisan. This impressive table piece is a well-balanced scale model of a medieval Viking ship. The shape and finish of the quality welded, copper hull is second to none. And the brass or bronze inserts of the dragons' head and tail at the bow and stern are the perfect finish to this miniature Viking marine vessel.
The hand-hammered copper sail also has exactly the right size and shape when filled with wind. Both the sail and the mast can individually be taken off. Both lidded boxes on deck too are in excellent condition and both can be taken out. We think this striking Viking Vessel may have been made as a highly decorative, occasional ink Stand and when you would use it, you would simply take the mast and sale off and put them back on after having written your letter. The round vessel being the ink well and the angular box being the vessel in which you would keep the crowns of your crown pen.
The quality of this out of the ordinary table or desk piece can also be measured by it's weight, because at 3.75 pounds lbs it is also is a heavy weight for its size. The shape, folklore, history, quality, craftsmanship and patina make this antique an absolute joy to own and look at. if you like it in our pictures, you will love it in real life. Again great value for money, especially since professional packaging and free delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days is complimentary.
