Italian Chandelier in "Reticello" Murano Glass and Brass, Italy 1940s
About the Item
Superb Italian chandelier in white reticello Murano glass and brass, this rare piece was designed in the style of Venini in Italy in the 1940s.
This finely crafted chandelier is fully made in Murano glass. The central shade is made in "Reticello" art glass which is at its best when lit.
The two lateral arms are in hand-blown glass and connect to a central column in brass that has been kept with its natural patina, which gave the metal a fantastic bronzed tone, amplifying it's charm and historical value.
An unique and incredibly elegant piece that will perfectly complement a Mid-Century living room or an Art Deco entryway.
The chandelier is in amazing conditions with no chips, it comes wired and tested and uses a single E27 light bulb.

Reticello which translates into "small reticles", is an Italian decorative glassblowing technique. This method involves canes organized in a crossed pattern to form a fine net. If done the traditional way, small air bubbles will be trapped in a grid pattern between the crossing canes.

- Venini Midcentury "Tessuto" White and Crystal Murano Glass Chandelier, 1970sBy VeniniLocated in Roma, ITStunning Mid Century White and Crystal "Tessuto" Murano Glass Chandelier. This beautiful object was produced in Italy in the 70s by Venini. Woven Glass created by Carlo Scarpa for Venini in the 1930s; similar to filigree but obtained using very thin reeds joined with alternating colors and flattened to form strips similar to fabric ribbons, joined and manipulated to obtain the desired design. This is an exceptionally beautiful chandelier due to the state of the piece, the size of the light but above all the subtlety of the Tessuto Murano Glass. A stunning piece of lighting with infinite elegance that will complement an art deco or mid-century living room or entryway perfectly. The Chandelier uses a single E26/27 light bulb. Scarpa was born in Venice. Much of his early childhood was spent in Vicenza, where his family moved when he was 2 years old. After his mother's death at the age of 13, he moved with his father and brother to Venice. Carlo attended the Academy of Fine Arts where he concentrated on architectural studies. Graduated from the Academy of Venice, with the title of Professor of Architecture, he was apprenticed to the architect Francesco Rinaldo. Scarpa married Rinaldo's niece, Nini Lazzari (Onorina Lazzari). However, Scarpa refused to take the pro forma...Category
