With geometrically precise lines, the Arca lamp, Pedro Ávila’s (@avilapedro) latest creation, establishes an intriguing contrast between the ancestry of parchment paper and the cutting edge of stainless steel. In this contrasting fusion, a distinct period of production is outlined: stainless steel, a symbol of the industrial revolution with its inexorable acceleration and promises of progress, and parchment, a material remaining from Chinese lanterns handcrafted about 2,000 years ago, with bamboo structures covered with paper. Creating a link between different eras, Arca witnesses materialized history and the convergence between tradition and innovation.
