  • Carlo Nason Italy Murano White, Pink Chandelier, Pendant, Lamp
    By Carlo Nason
    Located in Valladolid, ES
Amazing and Fantastic large chandelier-type lamp designed by Carlo Nason for the Venetian house Mazzega. It has a metal structure from which an infinity of white Murano glass discs hang with a salmon-colored circle, 26 cm in diameter. The Mazzega house was founded in the 40s as an artisan glass factory, evolving to become a benchmark in design and avant-garde. About Carlo Nason Italian designer Carlo Nason was born into a family of expert glassmakers in 1935 in Murano, Venice. His father, Vincenzo Nason, ran the renowned Nason Moretti glass company and opened a second glass company under the name Vincenzo Nason & C in 1941. From an early age, the young Nason was trained in the art of glassblowing, learning both the properties of the material and the craft techniques used in the molding and decoration of the glass. Nason's first designed objects date from 1959 and are included in a collection of mold-blown vases produced by V Nason & C. Today, they are in the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. Driven by his passion for design, especially clean geometric shapes, Nason decided in the 1960s to distance himself from his family's business, which specialized primarily in highly traditional ornate decorative objects. Nason redirected his focus to glass lighting design in a modernist language. Nason intended to produce his first individual designs in small batches himself, but soon his spirit of experimentation and innovation caught the eye of Murano glass lighting manufacturer A.V. Mazzega, and the company invited Nason to collaborate on new collections. The partnership lasted from 1965 through the 1980s and resulted in a variety of iconic lighting designs that remain in demand today. Parallel to the collaboration with A. V. Mazzega, Nason also...

  • Art Deco Italian black and white couple of Cabinets -Secretaries Paolo Buffa
    By Paolo Buffa
    Located in Valladolid, ES
One of a kind pair of cabinet-secretaire in black lacquer wood and parchement attibuted to Paolo Buffa (Milan, Italy, 1903-1970). The furniture designed by the Milanese architect and designer Paolo Buffa is often unique, based on the needs of his clients and, for this reason, always different. What unites his pieces, in addition to the perfection in their execution, is the neoclassical style that Buffa absorbed during his training in Gio Ponti's studio in the 1920s: the solid and elegant lines that Buffa applies to his furniture maintain a kind of continuity between the 19th century and the 20th century and characterize all of his production. The use of precious woods, often decorated with fine grooves on the surfaces and brass ornaments, is another characteristic of his pieces. His most frequent collaboration was with the historic Milanese furniture factory Quarti, with which he designed several public and private projects for prestigious clients, such as the decoration of King Farouk of Egypt...
