Exquisitely hand-crafted in Continental Europe around the 18th century, judging by the quality of work this most impressive example was likely commissioned by an important Roman Catholic church as a main altarpiece / altar figure. The rare one-of-a-kind ecclesiastical work, circa 1750, hand carved from a single large log, with exceptionally fine detailing throughout, gessoed, polychrome decorated, and richly gilded, modeled as standing Jesus figure with sculpted draped garbs, carrying a superbly textured lamb over His shoulders, partial hollowed open verso, rising on plinth base.
