Paul Jouve - Félix Marcilhal

About the Item

Félix Marcilhac, born in Paris on November 20, 1941, is an internationally renowned specialist in the field of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Graduated in economics, former student of the Institute of Political Sciences, holder of a Des and a DEA in art history, he is also one of the sworn professionals with the Paris Court of Appeal, to which most French auctioneers turn for their public sales, writing and guaranteeing for them the descriptions of the catalogs of its two symbolists and academic. He organized exhibitions of French art abroad, wrote their catalogs and gave lectures in museums while teaching art history for several years in private courses or for future auctioneers, as an assistant professor at the Ecole du Louvre. Initiator of the René Lalique Museum in Suwa, Japan, he was its expert and accredited advisor. In addition, he is the author of articles and studies published in French and international magazines, and of authoritative fund works with books as different and essential as those on the orientalist painter Jacques Majorelle, the catalog raisonné by animal sculptor Edouard-Marcel Dunand. He also wrote the catalog raisonné of the sculptor Chana Orloff and a book dedicated to André Groult. Finally, the third edition of the catalog of René l Lalique's work of glass, a veritable sum entirely revised and completed by Félix Marcilhac, was published in 2004 by Editions de l'Amateur.
