19th Century Turkish Brass Repousse Valet Shoe Shine Decorative Stand
About the Item
This fabulous estate find is an old Turkish shoe shine kit that came from Istanbul. It is made of sturdy wood and brass with beautiful repousse Iznik influenced designs. There are two cash drawers in the wooden back, one key opens both. Also two brass drawers. There is a large compartment on each side which is has a domed brass hinged lid. Includes 16 original bottles with brass tops of various sizes, 8 on each side. Has attached carrying chain strap.
It is a pleasure to see such craftsmanship in a utilitarian item. This stand was clearly made to draw attention.
This is quite the statement piece that will stop people in their tracks with curiosity!
