About the Item
This is an ascending palmette and flower design Shirvan rug from the 19th century, Kuba region, Eastern Caucasus area. Kuba rugs of this predominantly yellow-ground group are well-known and highly desirable among specialist collectors. A listing of the examples to have appeared at auction over the past decade appeared in Hali 63, p. 134. It is framed with a traditional border and the design of the rug is interpreted by our designers, and the most appropriate colors to match the original are used for this carpet.
