Furniture Designer Arne Tidemand -Ruud grew up in a furniture family. The father Ole N. Ruud delivered furniture and interior to the America line among others. Tidemand Ruud took his degree in 1935 while studying at the State Handicraft and Art Industry School. He worked in the family business until 1953 when he acquired AS Inventar at Gjøvik after his father's death. Here he operated the factory together with his wife Solveig Tidemand Ruud. For three decades, they designed and produced their own furniture and furnishings for cafes, restaurants, banks and hotels. His most famous work is this lounge chair Holmenkollen (1959), which was performed in teak with tanned skin. Holmenkollen was mainly sold in the USA, Germany and Sweden through the Norcraft export organization
