Contemporary Pink Resin Chair, Inspired by Pierre Jeanneret
About the Item
The pink resin chair was inspired by the "Cross-Easy-Chair" by Pierre Jeanneret originally made from teak and cane work. Designed in India for the building Chandigarh in 1955. A collection of chairs were designed with the use of basic tools available; forming a robust and simple design style.
The Pink-Resin-Chair uses a similar double 'X' geometry as the Cross-Easy-Chair. The type of joints and construction have shifted fore-mostly due to using pink resin for the seat and secondly large mitres on the armrest give it a slightly more angular, contemporary effect. The contrast of material, texture and colour bring a new dimension to the chair.
The pink resin is cast by hand, and holds many irregularities due to the chemical reaction caused when mixing the resin. These irregularities are intentional, making beautiful shapes, cracks and bubbles in the surface of the resin.

Louis Jobst
“Craftsmanship is integral to the core of my work, the physicality and composition of materials underpin my creative practice. My aim is to achieve a balance between form and function”
- Louis Jobst - Louis Jobst is a decorative lighting designer and architect establishing his studio in 2017 in
Hackney, London. Jobst designs and manufactures bespoke and batch produced lighting and
furniture exploring relationships between sculpture, product design and architecture. His work
utilises the inherent qualities of materials expressing the process in which they are made. Jobst’s growing collection of lighting focuses on the dialogue between mass, geometry and proportion. Inspiration comes from architectural components such as arches, columns and monoliths, with reference drawn from early 20th century design and sculpture. Each light has a stacked formation with harmonised proportions and contrasted material qualities. Solid steel and glass mixed with ebonised oak and brass are amongst some of the materials used. The architectural influence is clear with striking geometric silhouettes and heavy robust materials. Jobst describes
his works as “Monuments for the home”. Jobst won the Elle Decoration British Design Award 2017 for accessories and has showcased his new collection at the Design Museum (London), 67 York Street Gallery, Decorex, The London Art Fair and The London Design Fair. Jobst is currently selling his Monument collection at Heal Furniture store UK.

- Contemporary Ridge Lamp with Geometric Oak Base and linen ShadeBy Louis JobstLocated in London, GBExpressing mass and material quality are common threads found in Jobst’s iconic collection. The Ridge Lamps create striking silhouettes that echo early 20th century design and sculpture. The geometric form of the oak base is contrasted with a smooth face and a ridged textured surface. The oak has been ebonised using a technique that reacts with the tannin in the oak creating the dark surface. The refined element of the oak is contrasted by the solid limestone block...Category

Each column is individually cast by hand highlighting the raw aluminium qualities. The geometric shapes echo early 20th century sculptors such as Brancusi and Noguchi with an essence of Art deco and mid-century modern style. The ridged texture that gives the light its name is the result of the making process giving the light a tactile surface quality. The double curved, cream necks lead to matte opal globe...Category
