About the Item
The Haussmann chair is a vibrant timeless piece of comfort and elegance.
This unique three-leg chair premiered at the "Haussmann Expo 64" and was designed by Robert & Trix Haussmann in 1964.
Trix & Robert Haussmann are an architect and designer duo based in Zürich, Switzerland, regarded among the most influential Swiss architects of the twentieth century. In 2013, the Swiss Federal Office of Culture awarded Trix and Robert Haussmann the Grand Prix Design.
Over the course of their careers, they have completed around 650 projects. With Dietiker, they have collaborated on multiple furniture pieces that are now considered classics.
Both have strong roots in modern architecture. Robert Haussmann studied under Gerrit Rietveld in Amsterdam, and later, in Zürich, with the Swiss designer Willy Guhl and Bauhaus member Johannes Itten. He was a professor of architecture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart until 1996. Trix Högl completed her architectural studies at the ETH Zurich under Werner Max Moser and Jacques Schader. She was an associate professor for architecture at the ETH Zürich until 2002.
The chair has a wood frame and it is still manufactured by Dietiker, the original manufacturer which also helped develop the chair.
It is lacquered in Black color.
The wood is FSC certified and sourced from sustainable forestry.
The chair has modified connections in order to be shipped flatpack and can be assembled in a couple of minutes.
