Set of six Sven Markelius Orchestra Chairs designed for Helsingborg concert hall in 1932.
These specific chairs are manufactured by Bodafors in the 1930s, the chairs are made in patinaed birch and have over the years Gotten a beautiful natural patina.
Sven Markelius was a big and important part of Swedish functionalism.
Sven Markelius was educated from 1909 to 1913 at the Royal Technical University in Stockholm and at the Academy of fine Arts and subsequently went on study trips to Germany and Italy. He then underwent solid training with the architects Ragnar Östberg, Erik Lallerstedt and Ivar Tengbom. After several successful architectural competitions, he opened his own office in 1920.
He was also the city architect of Stockholm from 1944 to 1954 and had a big impact on the extension of Stockholms suburbs.
