Pair of Antique King George III Period Wheelback Armchair or Side Chair Frames

About the Item

This pair of antique armchair frames are unsigned, but presumed to have originated from England and date to approximately 1790 and done in the period King George III style. The chairs are composed of walnut and feature a large spoked wheel back with stylized compass marquetry hubs. These hand crafted wheel backs each have hand forged steel support brackets on etiher side. These chair frames are in good sturdy period condition, but the needlepoint upholstery shows considerable wear and fading and do not match in color. Please note we have a single third matching chair posted should you require more than two.

  • Condition:
    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Both frames show wear at the joint of the wheel, and some wear to the edges of the legs and stretchers. There is considerable wear, and fading to the seat upholstery as presented in the photos, and consistent with age and use.
