Collectible Anfibio Sofa Bed, black velvet lounge chair, Italian Space Age
About the Item
Offered by Spinzi Milano , we have a very rare Anfibio Armchair/ Bed
The Anfibio is one of the most recognisable and sought after pieces of Italian design ever. Its popularity, however, does not derive from a widespread diffusion - as is the case for, say, the Camaleonda sofa or the Arco floor lamp. Instead, the soft convertible sofa designed by Alessandro Becchi for Giovannetti Collezioni in 1970 is more of a cult object - a piece only known to an elected niche of enthusiasts and collectors.
With an elegant rounded shape, it is as comfortable as it gets - also thanks to the wide armrests and enveloping backrest. Then, at need, it easily and quickly unfolds to turn into a bed - what a way to surprise your guests while offering them a cozy stay for the night!
The piece we're offering is an extremely rare iteration of the Anfbio, and that is for two reasons: first, it's the one-seater armchair, by far the hardest to find as opposed to the wider two and three seater sofas; and second, it is upholstered in black ribbed velvet - according to our knowledge, the least used material for any version of the Anfibio.
We're happy to present this gem of Italian design, preserved in very good original conditions, with only the expectable traces of wear and no tears or damage.
