P.E.L. Tubular Steel Writing Desk and Chair, United Kingdom 1930s
About the Item
Charming P.E.L. Tubular Steel Writing Desk and Chair from the United Kingdom, the 1930s. This set is probably designed by Serge Chermayeff (1900–1996) for the 'Practical Equipment LTD'. The table has a rectangular top of ebonized wood on a chrome-plated metal tube base. It has a triple u-shaped base, connected by a triple strap stretcher. The legs are on a black lacquered base. The chair is also made of chromed metal and the seat and backrest are made of artificial leather. The chair is clearly marked. The table and chair are in good condition with normal wear and tear due to their age, however, we love the patina and the signs of its almost 100 years of existence.
Dimensions: Table: 107 cm width x 47 cm depth and 76 cm height / chair: 41 cm width x 81 cm height x 54 cm depth and seating height 45 cm.

- Crate Chair by Gerrit Rietveld, Designed in 1930s The NetherlandsBy Cassina, Gerrit RietveldLocated in Hellouw, NLNice Gerrit Rietveld 'Crate' chair. This chair is designed in 1934, however, we think this is a Cassina edition from the 1970s. This chair is made out of ash wood and has a colorless lacquer. 'Gerrit Rietveld designed the 'crate' series of furniture built from standardized pine boards – cheap material for packing crates – which were soon well-known as ‘crate furniture’. 'From 1935 on the progressive designs appeared at Metz & Co, where furniture by Rietveld had already been sold since 1930. The crate desk...Category
