Ellipse Table
About the Item
Isabelle Stanislas’ 'Ellipse' dining table incarnates the designer’s ‘artistic philosophy of structure’, in other words her desire to create a design that aims at a form of quintessence. This graphic table is based on the masterful conjugation of three materials: white Estremoz marble, black Marquina marble, and bronze-colored patinated brass. Each marble is imagined both individually and in association with the striking choice of a striped motif. A quasi kinetic visual game materializes in the extremely powerful yet contained graphic composition created by the combination of the black and white lines of the marble and the patinated brass elements.
Isabelle Stanislas’ ‘Ellipse' dining table is exclusively produced for Galerie BSL by prestigious French Ateliers Saint-Jacques, also producers of Rodin’s bronze sculptures, in a limited edition of 8 pieces + 4 artist proofs.
A leading figure in contemporary architecture, Isabelle Stanislas was chosen by Le Mobilier National (French national authority regarding state furniture since the 17th century) as well as by Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron to renovate the formal reception rooms of le Palais de l’Elysée (French Presidential Palace). A book dedicated to her work will be published at Rizzoli's this year.

- Ellipse Coffee TableBy Isabelle StanislasLocated in Paris, FRIsabelle Stanislas’ life is a path paved with geometry, similar to the scalene triangle with its three different sides. This geometrical mix is omnipresent in everything she does and is: in her shared Moroccan, French and Israeli roots; in her work that combines interior decoration, architecture and furniture design; and in her inspiration composed of a permanent balance between a respect for history, the audacity of modernity, and her desire to reunite all of these in the fundamentally essential. In Isabelle’s own words: “To invent is not to question everything. It means using the existing light and space and projecting them into the present. Heritage is not condemned to a life behind a window of the past. If we respect heritage, if we understand its codes and values, then we can marry it with modernity without denaturing it. After all, the past, the present and the future have always been the three sides of the same scalene”. After graduating from l’Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris with a diploma in architecture, Isabelle Stanislas was rapidly noticed for her work on various collective artistic projects, displaying an open attitude to diverse forms of creative expression. In 2003, her work for the Zadig & Voltaire boutiques demonstrated her now trademark artistic approach, founded on the rationalization of space, the incorporation of authentic historical codes and a deliberately restrained use of neutral colors. This is a philosophy that she has continued to develop, notably through her architecture agency which she founded in 2006. Influenced by the work of Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano and Louis Khan...Category

- Gandhara Carapace TableBy Nada DebsLocated in Paris, FRGANDHARA The ‘Gandhara Carapace’ table merges contemporary design and 'pietra dura', a refined centuries-old art. Born from the collaboration between Nada Debs, a much acclaimed designer in the Near and Middle East, and Meher Asad, artistic director of the Lél collective specialised in stone inlay, this exquisite table features minimal lines entirely covered with an inlay of fine stones (amazonite, onyx) and marble. The polygonal ‘Carapace’ pattern that repeats and unfolds over the entire surface of the table evokes both geometric rigor and the exoskeleton of an animal evoking protection. Custom size tables are available upon request. Nada Debs grew up in Japan in a Lebanese family. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. Nada has spent significant periods of time living and traveling around the world, exploring the connections between different cultures. She now lives in Dubai and Beirut where she established her studio twenty...Category
