- "The Man with the Golden Arm" Original US Film PosterBy Saul BassLocated in London, GBOriginal US film poster. Saul Bass was born in New York. Bass was a rotund, jovial character. After studying at the Art Students League and graduating from Brooklyn College, he moved west at the age of 26, and is credited with introducing an East Coast sensibility to marketing. All this time, he was forging ever-closer links with the film industry, and in 1954 this led to a commission from Otto Preminger to design the poster for Carmen Jones.
