Early 20th Century Erotic Pochoir Prints by Ettore TITO

About the Item

Set off five erotic colored 'pochoir' (French for stencil) prints. Printed with tempera ink. Depicting 'THE FIVE SENSES; See, Hear, Feel, Taste and Touch'. Signed by the Italian painter Ettore Tito (1859-1941). All lithos are framed under glass in a gilded wooden frame. Work from the 1930s. Artist's signature and dated 1925. Ettore Tito was an Italian artist particularly known for his paintings of contemporary life and landscapes in Venice and the surrounding region. He trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice and from 1894 to 1927 was the Professor of Painting there. Tito exhibited widely and was awarded the Grand Prize in painting at the 1915 Panama–Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. In 1926 he was made a member of the Royal Academy of Italy. In the early 1920s he made these prints of emancipated women for a French magazine, which were considered rather daring at the time! His oil paintings are often at major auction houses and sold for high prices. Dimensions frame: 33 x 26 cm.
