Kikuo Saito Signed Limited Edition Abstract Serigraph
About the Item
A limited edition serigraph print by the Japanese-American artist Kikuo Saito (1939-2016). This abstract work has a central dark green rectangle printed on a silver background and accented with a brown-red, black, and yellow dash. A field of pale pink surrounds the central design of the print. Signed to the lower right, the print is numbered 225/225 and is unframed.
Born in Tokyo, Saito began painting at the age of 17 and worked for several years in the workshop of Japanese painter, Sensei Itoh. When he was 27, he moved to New York City and became involved with the Color Field movement, as well as Lyrical abstraction. Saito was a studio assistant for Helen Frankenthaler and Kenneth Noland and his works are in the collections New York's Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum.
