About the Item
An Edwardian garnet, pearl, and diamond, platinum and white gold brooch, comprising eighteen old European cut diamonds, four cushion shaped diamonds, and one round pearl, set in platinum and 18 karat white gold.
This delicate Edwardian brooch is set to the centre with a shimmering round pearl. The pearl is pale, lustrous, and creamy. The pearl is surrounded by 4 cushion shaped garnets, held within bezel settings. The garnets are a deep pinkish red hue and are a perfect pairing to the lustrous pearl. The garnets are interspersed with bezel set old cut diamonds, creating a central floral cluster. The brooch is set to the compass points with bezel set old European cut diamonds, 3 larger, and one smaller at the ‘North’ point. The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly, and well-matched with one another. The brooch is oval in shape, and scrolling, foliate, diamond set tendrils create an elegant openwork design. The brooch is complete with safety catch and pin. The brooch is in great condition, with a small amount of nacre loss to the top of the pearl and small amount of wear to the garnets. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The brooch measures 31mm long, 47mm wide, and 6mm deep (excluding pin and fittings).
