Art Deco Leather Book Style Powder Compact with wrist strap by Mondaine 1920’s
About the Item
This is a beautiful Art Deco book style powder compact in deep blue leather with a fabric wrist strap. Dating from the 1920’s with three compartments inside plus a small raised lid that opens to reveal lip gloss. The first compartment is empty, it is hallmarked Mondaine, New York USA, Paris, the second compartment is almost full with face rouge and the third with face powder. The rouge has the original puff with a silk backing. The lip gloss is dark pink in colour, as is the rouge.
Condition of the leather is excellent, only a few very minor wear marks. The sides are brass showing no dents or dings. The hinge is strong and runs down the full width of the compact and it closes with a firm snap. The interior is a beautiful golden brass and all interior hinges are in good working order. The compartments are marked Face Rouge and Face Powder with Pats Pending on both. The bevelled mirror shows signs of foxing, but still fully usable, which adds to its antique charm.
This is a lovely piece and in excellent condition.
