About the Item
Exceptional natural color change sapphire and rose cut diamond Georgian Period ring.
The sapphire of Sri Lankan origin, lively blue color changing to violet, approximately 8 carat, measuring 12.63 x 9.08 x 7.52mm, surrounded by eight near colorless rose cut diamonds.
Accompanied by a GIA Sapphire Origin Report stating that the sapphire is natural, no indication of heating, Sri Lanka origin, color changing from blue to violet.
Over ninety percent of sapphires in the current market have had color enhancement. This spectacular ring is from the Georgian Period, late 18th- early 19th Century. The beautiful center stone is surrounded by eight near colorless rose cut diamonds set in a fine floral reticulated 18K gold setting. The elegant rare reticulated design allows added light refraction to the sapphire gemstone.
Very good condition showing lovely age appropriate wear.
Size 5 US, sizeable
Tested for 18K gold
Sapphires have a standing tradition of being the favorite gemstone of engagement rings of the British Royal family. One of the most admired sapphire rings in the world was given by Prince William to Kate Middleton to commemorate their engagement. Symbolizing faith, hope and destiny sapphires are widely believed to attract good fortune, making them a perfect choice as a ring stone.
