Lion is a beautiful charcoal original drawing on ivory-colored paper, realized by the German artist Wilhelm Lorenz, best know as Willi Lorenz (German, 1901–1981), in 1971. Signed and dated in pencil on lower right margin.
This wonderful foreground of profile of the lion fascinates for the incredible draftsmanship of the artist and the realism with which the feline is portrayed.

Wilhelm Lorenz that signed Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, bisons or lions depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks bears resemblance and similarity to the works of Max Josef Hänger Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to establish his career.

Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter who specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artwork resembled the work of Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
