About the Item
Il disegno, sebbene non firmato, proviene dalla collezione degli eredi di Giuseppe Bezzuoli, come riconoscibile dallo stemma ovale Macciò Parri che si trova in basso a sinistra, ed è del tutto simile alla produzione di questo grande artista fiorentino a cavallo fra neoclassicismo e romanticismo.
Il centro del foglio è occupato da due figure, una maschile e una femminile, distese e abbracciate, con un'espressione di intenso pathos, che indicano a una posizione distante da loro. La parte alta dei loro corpi è molto più definita, ben espressa con anche rialzi a biacca, rispetto dal busto in giù, quando le gambe diventano poi tratteggiate da una sottile linea di matita. Potrebbe essere riferibile ad uno studio per un soggetto letterario dei grandi poemi epici italiani, per esempio da Torquato Tasso o dall'Ariosto. Per motivi stilistici è databile alla maturità artistica di Bezzuoli, quindi al Quarto o al Quinto decennio del XIX secolo. Con cornice in legno dorata inclusa.
