David Skillicorn
"Nel Bosco 12-6" Contemporary Landscape Mixed Media on Canvas Framed Painting

About the Item

"Nel Bosco 12-6" is a framed mixed media on canvas work by David Skillicorn, depicting a densely wooded landscape in red tones with a contrasting crisp blue sky. The series' title of "Nel Bosco" comes from the Italian for "in the woods/forest" and features birch trees amid a vibrant background that seems to glow. This piece is finished in a silver scoop floater frame with a whitewashed woodgrain effect on the frame’s interior and sides. Pricing includes the pictured frame. Unframed dimensions are 36 x 36 inches. About the artist: American abstract painter David Skillicorn sees painting as pure celebration. For more than 20 years, Skillicorn has dazzled clients with his luminous abstract artworks. Based in New York and Massachusetts, he has recently been exploring the complex spatial and color relationships of floral abstracts. Skillicorn is a veteran documentary filmmaker, whose Emmy award-winning career spanned some twenty years. It was through film and cinematography that he not only fine-tuned his eye for artistic detail and composition, but also uncovered a passion for painting. While filming a story about artists on Cape Cod, he met up with a master painter at dawn to document their process. As Skillicorn filmed, the artist set up a blank canvas, and with just five or six strokes, created what David called "magic." Though it had never occurred to him before, this single, artistic experience moved the filmmaker to become a painter himself. Skillicorn pursued his newfound passion and for the past twenty years has been drawn to abstract painting. For him, it is the most challenging, the most mysterious, and ultimately the most magical. Soft, sensual, and expansive, Skillicorn’s paintings breathe elegance, calm, joy, and exquisite beauty. His work is shown regularly at premiere galleries throughout the United States and his paintings are part of innumerable public and private collections.
