Emmanuel Ojebola
Portrait of George Stinney

2023

About the Item

"Portrait of George Stinney" by Emmanuel Ojebola, is a powerful and poignant tribute to George Stinney, a young African American who was wrongfully convicted and executed in 1944 in South Carolina at the age of 14. The title and the portrayal of a bald young man likely aim to draw attention to the tragic injustice that Stinney faced at a very young age. The artwork serves as a means of highlighting issues of racial injustice, wrongful convictions, and the importance of a fair and equitable legal system. It also prompts viewers to reflect on the historical and ongoing challenges related to race and the criminal justice system. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity About Artist Emmanuel Ojebola was born in southwest Nigeria Eruwa Oyo state in the late 90s. He had his secondary education in the Baptist model High school Sango Eruwa where he developed his interest in the art using the course of his junior secondary school education. His interest in art came from learning from his then-creative art teacher (Mr. Segun Adesope) before proceeding to improve his art skills at the Ibarapa Polytechnic Eruwa. He loves to work with mixed media but mainly with coffee acrylic and oil. His passion for African black women and children with the childhood care he got from his mother during his childhood days is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. He believes women are Virgo and sees them as gods here on earth. He sees himself as a creator who uses his coffee to create human figures with depth and meaningful art pieces. Emmanuel Ojebola now practices as a full-time studio artist with a well-known and talented artist Oluwole Omofemi. And he sees the likes of Cesar Santos, Eddie Filer, and Oluwole Omofemi as inspirational figures. He sees his art as a part of him and a way for him to express the way he sees the world and its beauty.

  • My Little Bastard - Bright, Energetic Marks Encircle Figurative Elements
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Olympio, a prominent figurative abstract artist from Togo, creates artwork that is driven by an unapologetic sense of instinct. Olympio’s work is honest and palpable: exposed, raw, and direct. Through a bold use of color and texture, Olympio creates dynamic, multi-layered works that demand the viewer's attention. His work is an unfiltered manifestation of his soul. Bright, energetic marks encircle rough textures balanced by the peaceful compositions emanating from below the surface. This 48 inch square mixed-media painting is signed by Olympio on the back of the canvas. The many layers in his work further emphasize the texture and visceral nature of his canvases. The painting is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping are available. A Certificate of Authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included. Olympio was born into a large family of eight children in Lomé, Togo, West Africa. He began his creating art by using building scraps to make sculptures. By the time he was in high school, he started to experiment with mixed media and collage. He later transitioned to acrylic and oil on canvas. In 2001, Olympio left his home in Africa to live in Paris. Olympio moved to the United States in 2003 and has continued to paint. His work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami, where in 2018 he was ranked one of the Top 10 Artists by Red Dot Miami. He was also recently interviewed for France 2, TV5Monde, and the BBC.
