Provenance: Private collection, Paris Piasa Paris Jann Haworth was born in Hollywood, USA. From 1959-61 she attended the University of California, Los Angeles before coming to England in 1961 to attend the Courtauld Institute and then the Slade School of Fine Art from 1962-3. In 1963, whilst a student at the Slade Haworth met Peter Blake at a party and they married in July of that year. Haworth moved into Blake’s Chiswick flat and she set up a studio alongside his where she produced her life-size textile figures. A pioneer of soft sculpture, she is best known as the co-creator of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. "Benday Sophia 1" pays tribute to those paintings that became the trademark of Ceravolo's unique and trend setting style of painting. His work is collected worldwide and is in many important collections including, Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Hugh Hefner and Prince Jefri of Brunei to name only a few. In addition to those, his paintings came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create 5 large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City. In this painting, Ceravolo has featured an image of his pop art painting of Sophia Loren, and combined it with a pattern of benday dots to create the basis of "Benday Sophia 1". He then paints his trademark brush strokes and textures on the canvas over the pop art portrait. Then, he paints the "floating" illusion that creates the 3d floating effect he is known for. Alea Pinar Du Pre's original mixed media artworks portray human figures in a graphic pop-realist style. An enterprising autodidact merging technology and fine art, her vibrant contemporary pop-figurative artworks colorfully explore the territory between human reality and artificial reality. Her paintings portray the fact that our perceptions of solid reality are deceptively virtual. This unique collage is a part of her "Snapshot" series, as she explains: "We consist of the same atoms, created billions of years ago in a supernova. And here we are living and breathing and experiencing life, and we think we are all so different. I think we are all the same, it’s just that are masks and poses are different. I love humanity and this game we are playing. With snapshot, I am trying to capture the unawareness of the fact that we are the greatest wonder of the universe".
