Yanieb Fabre
Milagro (Córcega) contemporary surrealist landscape drawing

2020-2023

About the Item

Made with oil crayons, the artist creates this piece almost as a ritual in which her body and its movement become protagonists when drawing on paper. Beneath these figures and drawings lie many other layers of forms, figures, and faces that were once the face of the work. The artist has a very intuitive process and at the same time, she is compulsive with her interventions towards paper. It is a process of constant transformation in which the first shapes and drawings are rarely visible to our eyes. Yanieb gives herself permission to modify and alter the result of her work, creating many layers of hidden shapes and strokes. Yanieb has a spiritual connection with nature, which she translates to her work. She invites nature to intervene in her work. She sometimes buries her paintings or drawings in the ground or in the sea and leaves them for several months, allowing the salt water or soil to alter the materials.
