About the Item

My paintings are constructed slowly and deliberately by building layer upon layer of vibrant acrylic colour. My approach is similar in the way areas are carefully developed with a concentration on form and shape, and an attentiveness to light and colour. The image emerges and builds in this way, simplifying details in the process, creating a balance of abstraction, representation and bold, saturated colour. Eaton has had over forty-five solo exhibitions of her work and her paintings hang in numerous private and public collections. Eaton’s work has been acquired by: the New Brunswick Art Bank; Mount Allison University; RBC Dominion Securities; Aliant Telecom; Nesbitt Burns; NB Power; the UNB Art Centre; Toronto Dominion Bank; Atlantic Lottery Corporation; Centre d’Art de Baie-Saint-Paul; and the Masterworks Foundation, among many other public and corporate collections. Early in her career, Eaton was invited to participate in the Symposium de la Jeune Peinture au Canada, in Baie- Saint-Paul, Quebec. The youngest of fifteen international artists, her large twenty-foot painting then traveled to the exhibition, TERRE-TERRE, at the Museum of the Americas, in Washington, D.C. Over the years, Eaton’s paintings have been included in several important group exhibitions, such as: Anecdotes and Enigmas, curated by Hermenegilde Chiasson; and BLISS, curated by Shauna McCabe. BLISS combined the work of four international artists exploring the image and idea of flowers and flowering, and its relationship to the poetic, questioning modern perceptions of beauty.

Provenance Steve Chase Design, Palm Springs, CA Ronnie Landfield was born in the Bronx, NY on January 9, 1947 - the same day as his older brother. As a teenager, he was encouraged to pursue a career as an artist, subsequently creating his first real paintings around the age of 14. He was particularly influenced by a Life magazine article from 1961 on the Abstract Expressionists, most notably: Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb, Hans Hofmann, Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Robert Motherwell and Franz Kline. After stints at the Art Students League, the Kansas City Art Institute, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of California at Berkeley, Landfield’s professional career as a painter began in New York in 1965. The following year, after completing a major series of hard-edge border paintings, success as a painter began to materialize. The famous architect and collector Philip Johnson and the collector Robert Scull each acquired large paintings works, as did the Sheldon Memorial Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1967, Landfield was invited to participate in the Whitney Annual at the end of the year. His work attracted considerable attention, and he was invited to participate in important group exhibitions at the Bykert, Bianchini, and Park Place Galleries in New York. Landfield joined the David Whitney...
