About the Item
Calligraphic lines visible, almost forensically, through a burnished pool of layered bronze-orange acrylic continue in a secretive glyphic at the foot of the square canvas. The whole floats on a ground of pale lilac and is underlined by a strip of lime green at the bottom edge of the canvas.
They form an indecipherable but deliberate communication that Teichert refers to as visual poetry: "The notation of language has always held more fascination for me than the verbal or auditory expression of it. Reading and absorbing the images of many manuscripts, sheets of music or pages of scripted writing throughout my life, has always led me to that curious space between perception and interpretation.'
Teichert studied music, philosophy, visual poetry, visual arts and printmaking in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many public, corporate and private collections worldwide.

Alice Teichert
(b.1959, Paris, FR) Multidisciplinary artist Alice Teichert is known for her use of bold colours and layered transparencies interspersed with script like line drawings. Teichert studied music, philosophy and visual arts in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in Germany, France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections including the MacLaren Art Centre, Global Affairs Canada, and the Musée de la Ville de Valence, France. An English-German edition of a monograph by Dagmar Täube, titled In)Formation - On the Philosophy and Art of Alice Teichert has recently been published by Hirmer Publishers, Münich, Germany
