About the Item

Untitled (20-11) Acrylic on muslin over mdf 20.5” x 11.75” 2020 Jason Matherly is an Athens, GA based artist who produces shaped paintings with an emphasis on precise color combinations. His particolored objects are comprised of multiple elements, each of which is treated as an individual monochrome painting before being joined together as a whole. The goal is to create works imbued with both the meditative subtleties of minimalism and the dynamic, internal logic of sculpture. A librarian by training, Matherly draws inspiration from a broad range of research practices, as well as the everyday rhythms of family life. His works are held in private collections in New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.
