About the Item
Signed lower center, 'Buchfink' for Marie Buchfink (American, born circa 1931) and painted circa 1985. Accompanied by artist card, attached, verso.
Born in Muskegon, Michigan, Marie Buchfink received her B.A. in Fine Arts and Art History from Michigan State University and her teaching degree from Ohio Northern University. She subsequently undertook post-graduate work at Maryville College, St. Louis, Missouri and Delta College, Michigan. Marie began her full-time career as a fine artist after completing a successful teaching career in the Ohio school system. Marie has exhibited widely and with success throughout the Midwest and the Southwestern United States. She is the recipient of numerous prizes and museum awards and has exhibited in galleries and one man shows and her work often incorporates native American and shamanic symbolism.
