Beth Parcell, "Soft Spot", 9x12 Golden Retriever Dog Portrait Oil Painting

About the Item

This animal portrait, "Soft Spot", is a 9x12 oil painting on canvas featuring a deep red golden retriever resting in the light of the sun. About the artist: Beth’s favorite subject has always been the horse, particularly in sports such as racing and foxhunting. Canine and wildlife subjects are a close second. Beth is fortunate to live what she paints at her homes in central New Jersey, Maine, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She follows her local fox hunt twice a week and can also be found at Monmouth Park and Saratoga, or following steeplechasing. She has owned 4 Thoroughbred horses (off the track) and has been an avid rider for 41 years. Currently she is training her 5th Thoroughbred project, a race horse retired due to injuries. Beth began painting in oils at age 9, sitting alongside her grandfather as he painted NJ landscapes. Her formal art training includes 4 years of commercial and fine art, followed by 2 more years of study under John Osborne. She has been a professional artist for 32 years. Her award winning art can be found in six galleries as well as private collections across the US and Europe. Her home studio is hidden in the Sourland Mountains of central New Jersey. Beth is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists and a member of the Salmagundi Club, Oil Painters of America, and Allied Artists of America.
